As Fall settles in and we kick off Q4, we’re hard at work crafting a series of updates to our mobile and desktop streaming applications. Our main focus for the quarter is rebuilding the user interface for our content screens to further enhance and modernize the audience experience, ensuring you are offering your users the most intuitive, familiar and adoptable enterprise streaming solution available.
In October, we’re starting with mobile and desktop Show screens. It's a decent amount of work and while we always like to have monthly milestones, this one will push us into November. It'll be worth the wait! Here are a few highlights from the new design:
-
Your show artwork is front and center. By taking a more modern design to show pages, we are putting your creative artwork at the center of content browsing. This means that your apps will do a much better job promoting and celebrating your content and enticing users to play.
-
Color theming based on your artwork. The artwork provided for a show and episode will dictate coloring on the screen. Our apps will intelligently pick the best colors from your artwork to create an immersive and beautiful experience.
-
Improved visual cues and iconography. Users will have an easier time understanding how to accomplish desired actions in the apps. The “+” button directs users to follow and unfollow shows and the new feedback icon indicates they are communicating with you, the administrator. As users take actions in the app, there will be a text or visual cue that the action was successful.
-
Intuitive button placement. User action buttons are placed in the top-right of the screen as is typical for popular consumer apps.
-
The perfect level of detail. Optimally displayed titles and descriptions give users the level of detail they need without being overwhelmed with too much information on the screen. When they are ready to dive deeper into the material, they can access all relevant information.
Here’s a sneak peek of what’s to come for Show pages in both mobile and desktop.
These images show a complete view of the design direction. Changes will be released iteratively along with possible adjustments to design.

Monthly digests are here! Last week audience members received their first monthly digest email. This email highlights episodes that have been published in the past month. Smart links lead users to the app for seamless playback. And, users can manage their delivery preferences in the settings area. We’ve seen a big adoption lift with email notifications; hope you’re seeing the same!
-
Make it personal. Don’t miss an opportunity to brand the header for your company’s weekly and monthly email digests. Download the email header Photoshop template and send it to support@ustudio.com to take advantage of the customization
-
New Episode pages on the desktop app. Audience users now have a dedicated page for each episode, making descriptions and links easier to access.
-
Custom instructions for mobile app download. For organizations with special mobile app download instructions, you can now customize the pop up on the desktop experience to send folks to the right place, ensuring increased adoption across the board. If you need this feature, please reach out to support@ustudio.com and we'll set it up.
- Clearer insights. If you use the audience engagement graphs on the content pages in PMC, you’ll notice the graph now includes labels on the axes so that you are always in the know about what the data you’re looking at. We’ve also improved labels and consistency on dashboard tables and graphs. It’s a little thing, but every little thing helps make your program management easier.
