What is a Show?
A show is a curated collection of audio or video episodes. A show typically has a guiding theme or a consistent host. For example, a show with a guiding theme could be: sales best practices. Alternatively, a show centralized around the host could be: updates from the CEO.
Shows are able to be assigned to one or more categories and can be access controlled to zero or more groups of users.
A list of all shows within a studio can be accessed through the Shows tab in the Podcast section of the Podcast Management Console.
Create a Show
- Navigate to the Podcast section of the Podcast Management Console. When you are there, you will see Shows and Episodes in the left menu.
-
Navigate to the Show tab via the left menu.
-
Select the create a show button in the upper right corner.
-
Define a name for the new show.
Note: A show name can be edited at any time, though editing a show name should be done with caution if the show is visible to audience members.
-
Upload thumbnail artwork for the show.
Show artwork should be 1200 x 1200 pixels and a .png or .jpg file type. For additional guidance and ideas, see our article on Artwork Best Practices.
-
Select a category for the show, if desired.
Categories are an optional feature that can be used to group similar shows together to allow them to be easily discovered by audience members. Categories are created and managed in the Administration section of the Podcast Management Console.
-
Create a description for the show.
Use the show description to communicate the guiding theme and the value audience members will receive from the show.
-
Decide who you want to be able to access the show by controlling the access of the show to All Users or Private.
If you would like to limit the show’s access to specific groups, select the Private option and start typing the group name in the field that appears below. Groups are created and managed in the Administration of the Podcast Management Console.
-
Save the show to be able to publish episodes to it.
Tip: To save the show as a draft, jump back up to the access control section (previous step) and select Private. Do not add any groups so that only administrators who have access to the Podcast Management Console will be able to view the show.
Publish an Episode to Show
In order to have audience members access an episode, it needs to be published to a show. Once the episode is published to a show, all audience members who have access to the show will be able to view and play the content immediately.
There are two methods of publishing an episode to a show: via the Episode List, or via the Show Page as illustrated below.
-
Navigate to the Podcast section of the Podcast Management Console. When you are there, you will see Shows and Episodes in the left menu.
-
Navigate to the Show List via the left menu.
-
Navigate to the Show to which you want to publish an episode.
-
On the top of the show's list of episodes, click Publish an episode.
-
The pop-up will show a list of all episodes that have been uploaded to the studio. Select the episode that you would like to publish to the show and click publish.
Unpublishing episodes from a show
If you want to remove an episode from a show, you can unpublish the show from the Show Page. It is recommended that you do not unpublish an episode unless necessary as analytics are affected.
Reorder Episodes within a Show

Navigate to the Podcast section of the Podcast Management Console. When you are there, you will see Shows and Episodes in the left menu.

In the section titled “Control Access to this Show,” select whether you would like to allow All Users to view and play the show or only a subset by selecting Private.
-
If you select Private to limit access to the show, enter the groups you want to access the show. If you need to view the entire list of groups available or add a group, navigate to the Groups tab in the Administration section of the Podcast Management Console.
Saving a Show as a Draft
To have a show only visible to Podcast Management Console users, and not visible to your audience in the mobile and desktop applications, use the below method.
-
Follow steps 1-4 above.
-
In the section titled “Control Access to this Show,” select Private.
Do not enter any groups in the section labeled “Groups who have access to this show.”
-
Save the change.
After saving this change, only administrators who have access to the Podcast Management Console will be able to view this show.
Delete a Show
A show can be deleted at any time, however, we recommended that you do not delete a show as analytics are affected. Instead set the access control of the show to Private with no groups assigned. This acts as a way of archiving the show.
Because shows are simply a curated collection of episodes, deleting a show does not delete the episodes that have been published to that show. However, since audience members only access episodes via shows, deleting a show will remove audience members’ access point to those episodes. If an episode is published to multiple shows, deleting one show will not delete the same episode that is published to a different show.
To delete a show:
-
Navigate to the Podcast section of the Podcast Management Console. When you are there, you will see Shows and Episodes in the left menu.
-
Navigate to the Show tab via the left menu.
-
Click into the show you want to delete.
-
Edit the show details by clicking the link next to the artwork.
-
Click Delete Show near the save and cancel buttons.
