Why Real-time Provisioning and Deprovisioning Matters
Without real-time user provisioning and deprovisioning, user accounts in uStudio rely on manual updates to reflect changes in employment status. While our system effectively manages access through Single Sign-On (SSO), keeping user activation status accurate in the uStudio dashboard depends on real-time updates from your identity provider.
If manual updates are used, a former employee might still be able to access the application and content for a short period until their login session naturally expires. Additionally, the activated user count in the uStudio product and dashboard will not be accurate, potentially leading to an inflated view of activated users.
Establishing this automated connection ensures that user accounts are promptly updated, keeping your user data accurate, securing content access, and providing a true reflection of user status.
How uStudio Implements Automated User Management
We resolve this by leveraging the SCIM (System for Cross-domain Identity Management) protocol. SCIM allows your identity provider (such as an HR system or directory service) to automatically push updates regarding user status directly into uStudio. This includes provisioning new users, updating existing user information (such as group membership), and deactivating user accounts when employees leave the company or change roles.
