Read Along synchronizes spoken words with media playback, engaging multiple senses for improved retention and recall.

What is Read Along?
In the mobile player, you'll see a snippet of the transcript that highlights as words are spoken, making it easy to follow along with the audio.
In mobile or desktop, click the eyeglass icon to expand to full Read Along Mode. In this mode you will be able to read the full transcript and click on any part of the text to jump straight to that spot in the episode. This makes it super simple to revisit specific moments or dig into details without scrubbing back and forth.
How to enable Read Along?
The Read Along option will automatically appear for your audience on a particular episode if there is an associated transcript. Starting on April 1, 2025, a transcript will automatically be generated for all newly uploaded content. If you would like for Read Along to appear for content uploaded before April 1, 2025, follow these instructions.
Can I edit the transcript?
Yes. You can edit the transcript using our platform admin tool.
Can I use a transcript I have already produced outside the system?
Yes. If you already have a transcript for your content, you can replace the auto-generated transcript in our platform admin tool.
Why am I seeing non-spoken characters in the Read Along section?
Our Read Along feature utilizes the WebVTT file format for transcripts, capable of supporting various types of data. Currently, our system does not support extra metadata such as speaker identification. Therefore, if you upload transcripts that include this type of metadata, any extra characters or words will appear as plain text within the corresponding timeframe.
Why don’t I see the Read Along icon/section in the audience application?
Read Along is available in the mobile app, and will be available in the desktop app in Q1 2025. The Read Along icon and section only appears when there is a transcript associated with the episode. Any content uploaded after April 1, 2025 will automatically be transcribed. If you would like for Read Along to appear for content uploaded before April 1, 2025, follow these instructions.
Are transcripts available in multiple languages?
Read Along currently supports one language per episode. While our autogenerated transcripts are optimized for English, you are welcome to upload your own transcripts in any language, provided they are in the WebVTT format. If you would like to provide subtitles for video content,
How are autogenerated transcripts created?
Our media transcription processing service uses a combination of internal infrastructure and Google’s Speech-to-Text API with the same data privacy and security you expect with all uStudio services.
