With the Download Theme applied to your video player viewers can be given access to grab-and-go files that accompany and reinforce your video's message.
Take a look at the sample video on this uStudio Player Gallery page. Within the playback progress bar, the button reveals 4 accompanying files that a viewer can download directly to their device. In this case, the files are .pdf datasheets, but it could be just one or multiple files, of nearly any file type, including an image (like a diagram), a deck of slides, or a sample Microsoft Word template.
This is all supported through a Download Theme, which - when applied to the video player - makes file metadata available as resources through uStudio's content distribution network. To get going with your own download player, follow these steps:
- Request the Download Theme for your studio from email@example.com and apply it to a video player. It will NOT offer any files if none have been added to the associated metadata (see step 2).
- Request (or create through our APIs) additional video metadata fields in your studio that the Download Theme will reference. You need at least one field with "uid: File1" (type = file) and another with "uid: File1_Label" (type = text). You can create as many pairs as files you would like to distribute through the player. The sample atop this article uses 4 pairs of metadata.
- Now edit a video that's published to your download player and simply upload a file into one of your file-type fields, then give it a human-readable label (shown to the viewer in the drop-down menu).
- Viewers can now retrieve your file through your video player's new download interaction.
