uStudio continues to enhance content discovery inside and outside of your podcast application. With our latest release, uStudio Enterprise Podcast v1.35, we now support app badge overlays for iOS users. You can read the full Enterprise Podcast v1.35 release notes here.
This new feature notifies podcast users of episodes with a single badge counter encouraging podcast users to sign-in and play content. By simply scanning their phone, they'll be reminded that there is new content available even if they happen to miss a push notification.
As with all iOS settings, users will be able to manage preferences on their own. Individual users can prevent the overlay from showing up by turning off notifications for the uStudio app. Only end users who have subscribed to shows will see the overlay and they will only see it when they have unplayed episodes in a show they have subscribed to.
The app icon overlay adds the following functionality:
- Display a red dot on the uStudio Podcast application icon (app icon) that contains the number of Episodes in an audience member’s Unplayed list. As Episodes on the Unplayed list are consumed and removed from the Unplayed list, the app icon overlay will update accordingly.
- The red dot overlays will also appear on the 'My Library' menu item and 'Episodes tab'z.
- When push notifications are received, the push notification will be displayed even if the uStudio application is currently open.
- When push notifications are received, the number in the app icon overlay will increment to accurately reflect the number of Episodes in the Unplayed List. This will happen even if the app is not running in the foreground or background.
Here is what the app icon overlay and badge will look like:
